Pradosham purados ham is à bimonthly occasion on the thirteenth day of every fortnight in the hindu calendar. it is closely connected with the worship of hindu god shiva. the auspicous 3 hour period, 1.5 hour before and after the sunset is one of the optimum time for worship of lord Shiva Once dhevas and asuras using the serpent vasuki and the hill mahendra were trying to get amrutham (nector) from the kseerabtii (milk ocean), then the terrible poison halahalam came up. all got frightened and pleaded to lord shiva for rescue, beaing the peak of mercy lord shiva ate that poison. then as per his oyder they resumed their effort to get amutham
